The Orleans Renaissance Group, Inc.– or ORG is a 501(c)(3) volunteer organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts and preservation in the greater Medina, New York area and across Western New York.
Since its inception it has succeeded far beyond any original intentions. In its efforts to bring the arts to the greater Medina, New York area, ORG has hosted numerous first-class concert events with such ensembles as the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the world-renown a cappella quartet Anonymous 4. ORG’s efforts in the area of preservation are widely known. The Bent’s Opera House restoration project has gained a reputation as an important regional preservation initiative and has garnered the attention of preservationists, architects, artists and restoration contractors across Western New York and around the country.
Regionally, ORG has partnered with the Preservation League of New York State on restoring Bent’s Opera House and has collaborated with the League, Preservation Buffalo-Niagara and associated preservationists on preservation initiatives reaching audiences far and wide. Locally, ORG also supports numerous arts, cultural and preservation activities. Among them are Medina’s Interpretive History Sign Trail supported with design work and project coordination, the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols– an annual holiday event featuring WNY musicians and voices, the annual Civil War Initiative sponsored by Genesee Community College, the Pipe Organ Restoration Project at Historic St. Mary’s Church, and the Time For Medina community clock initiative.
